Finally listened to most of Acid Rap at lunch today after being too hung up on 10 Day to dive in. My immediate impression is that the tape lacks the heartfelt feeling of songs like “Missing You” and “Long Time II”. Also slightly discouraging is that creepy sex talk has increased since last time - at the risk of sounding like a prude or wowser, the relative lack of it was refreshing last time. Thanks alot, Action Bronson and Childish Gambino.

That said the production is fantastic and catchy and involving, and Chance is a great Rapper (obviously).

Joi Starr - My Favorite

This is also pretty great!

Joi Starr - Impatient (produced by Karriem Riggins)

The joy of hearing DJ Don Cannon shouting over an Arthur Russell sample is only part of why I love this song, which is like an R&B update of Russells meandering, insular style.
